Bavra Mann Dekhne Chala Ek Sapna:lyrics, translation

Ok, this is a very pathetic attempt at translating such a deep song...but I had to cuz none of the translations on net seemed too good to fit it...
I just heard it today and it was too captivating. It's from Hazaron Khwahishen aisi

Bavra Mann Dekhne Chala Ek Sapna
Bavra Mann Dekhne Chala Ek Sapna
Crazy heart is about to see a dream
Bavre Se Mann, Ki Dekho Bavri Hain Baatein
Bavre Se Mann, Ki Dekho Bavri Hain Baatein
See the heart that is …..like crazy…. has crazy talks…
Bavri Se Dhadkane Hain, Bavri Hain Saansen
Crazy are the heart beats, crazy are the breaths

Bavri Si Karwaton Se, Nindiya Door Bhaage
From the crazy twisting (as in sleep, swaying, changing sides)……sleep runs away
Bavre Se Nain Chaahe, Bavre Jharokhon Se, Bavre Nazaron Ko Takna.
Crazy eyes wish to gaze at, crazy sights..from crazy windows
Bavra Mann Dekhne Chala Ek Sapna

Bavre Se Is Jahan Main Bavra Ek Saath Ho
In this world that is like crazy..i wish to have a crazy companion(or company)
Is Sayani Bheed Main Bas Haathon Mein Tera Haath Ho
In this clever crowd, your hands should be in my hands
Bavri Si Dhun Ho Koi, Bavra Ek Raag Ho
Let there be a crazy tune, crazy one melody
Bavri Si Dhun Ho Koi, Bavra Ek Raag Ho
Bavre Se Pair Chahen, Baavron Tarano Ke, Bavre Se Bol Pe Thirakna.

Crazy feet wish to dance on the crazy lyrics of some crazy song
Bavra Mann, Dekhne Chala Ek Sapna

Bavra Sa Ho Andhera, Bavri Khamoshiyan
Bavra Sa Ho Andhera, Bavri Khamoshiyan
Let there be a crazy like darkness…..crazy silences
Thartharati Lowh Ho Maddham, Bavri Madhoshiyan
Let Shivering flame be stable….crazy intoxication
Bavra Ek Ghooghta Chahe, Haule Haule Bin Bataye, Bavre Se Mukhde Se Sarakana,
Crazy one veil wishes to slide down slowly from a crazy face without telling anyone
Bavra Mann, Dekhne Chala Ek Sapna

Bavra means crazy, as in....bavra mann ...my crazy insane, or silly heart.....is about to see ......."a dream"
It hints a taunt...as it knows it is impossible to dream
se means "like", not exactly saying that my heart is crazy...but it 's like crazy....
and see…my heart that 's nearly crazy talks crazily.....
My heart beats are like crazy, crazy are the breaths
From the crazy twists and turns of life ……sleep runs away
Eyes that are like crazy wish to gaze at, crazy sights..from crazy windows
Nain=eyes….jharokhon= from windows…..nazaron= delighting sights…something beautiful that is to be seen….takna= to gaze at
In this world that is like crazy..i wish to have a crazy companion(or company) In this clever crowd, all I need is just your hands should be in my hands
Let there be some crazy tune, a crazy melody
Crazy feet wish to dance on the crazy lyrics of some crazy song
Let there be darkness that would be like crazy …..and crazy silence
Let Shivering flame be stable at a medium flame….crazy intoxication
The veil is personified…as it is said to be silly and daring wishing to slide down slowly slowly and secretly without telling anyone, from a crazy(passionate)…face

The song portrays wishes…desires….as in let there be ….this…that…and at the same time, mocks at this dare……sweetly…my crazy heart is about to see “a dream..”
P.S : I know I was pathetic…please suggest if there should be any changes

    1. Hi Lalitha. Welcome. Thanks a lot for sharing your name. Makes me feel real good by having a name instead of Anonymous. I cant tell you how good it is....you know....I have enabled Anonymous comments, n easiest form of one click commenting without any text verification or botheration to my readers so that they always express their views without any problem at all.
But still people dont comment usually. Some of my friends in real life would call me up n say it was great but never comment.

N people like you, whom I dont know, who have not come through my facebook updates or twitter promotion, but purely for the content of the writing, make me feel really glad.

My mother tongue is also not Hindi,Hence learnt Hindi from TV.Do keep visiting and commenting n let me know if u want me to translate some other song!

  17. Hi
I loved this song and wanted to share it with the one I love but he doesn't understand Hindi so I was looking for a translation. Let me try and share what it said to me - and I think what it means is very dependent on the mood you are in when you listen to the song. In my case, we are both divorced and have found each other after many years of being single. It is hard when you are past 40, with kids, and a full life to find someone who you can truly love again. We found each other, but things being what they are, we can't be together because life is such - work, kids, family, home - the list is long. Practically speaking, we should not have pursued our relationship because right from the start, the logistic impossibility of being together was very clear. But we went ahead anyway and hence the title - bawra mann dekhne chala ek sapna - Two sensible, highly intelligent and accomplished adults jumped headlong into a relationship, letting the insane heart take over the head. So in our crazy hearts there is a dream - ek sapna.

And so we have impractical, impossible conversations - bawre se mann ke dekho, bawri hain batein.

We are surrounded by well meaning, sensible people (sayani bheed) who keep telling us that we are being foolish because there seems to be no logical future - as of now, there is no way we can be together in one place. But the world is so crazy anyway (bavre se is jahan mein) so why not one more act that defies logic but the beauty of having each other beats all that (bavra sa saath ho) All we need is to be able to hold each others hand - bas haathon mein tera hath ho, - in our case, now and then because he has his life and I have mine. Lacking completely in logical reasoning, we are together (bavra sa saath). Reality is overrated anyway!

And together in our insane world we have insane music (raag, dhun, tarana) to which we are merrily dancing (thirakna - literally shivering but here, dancing to our own beat, tune and words).

The last paragraph is more on the same lines - describing what our insane world looks like - our togetherness, our silences, the tenderness, the first look of a lovers face, a glance at an angle that surprises even when you know the face so well.

To all you crazy lovers out there - don't get too bogged down. True love is beautiful and totally worth it. Of course, a word of caution, both he and I are independent thinkers, we have no one telling us what to do, his kids like me and my kids like him but on our own, we know that making any changes to the status quo will be too disruptive for everyone around us and end up making one or the other miserable because of the massive changes that will be required. We also have the money and flexibility to meet often so while the bavra sapna is to be together, right now, its just that, a sapna. Long Tall Sally

    1. Hi...Long Tall Sally...

Interesting name and an even interesting story....Sorry for alte reply....your reply was kind of lost amidst the spam comments....every now n then....
I felt so good seeing yours....a genuine, heartfelt comment....and so well related , yes!!
You beautifully related your story with the texture and fabric of the song....

Very well put, I must say!!

But, I couldnt get the part.....of whether this lover of yours....was your original husband and you got separated to meet again.....or as you said his kids and my kids....guess it was the other way round....

Whatever it maybe, what I would like to put forth as m views and suggestions would be that there is nothing as real as reality...As you rightly said, it is exaggerated!

Pleople in asylum are reported to be much more realistic than those outside and sometimes one wants to take the plunge, the impulsive side.....and it's ok...you know!...It;s ok.....if both your kids like each other...why don't you try?

Keep visiting....I wish I could reach you back....but guess there's no contact so I can just hope and wish you ever revisit the place to read my reply! :/

      Love,
      Doveranalyst...:)

  19. Your translation of the lyrics is amazing. I have little knowledge of hindi; and while listening to song I was craving to know the complete meaning of the lyrics. I think you successfully communicated the deep meaning of the lyrics.
