Bubbly is an interesting choice for a name to start with. One would never imagine it has anything to do with voice. So, it is supposed to be filled with cheerfulness and high spirits.
The first thing you get when you google bubbly, however, is amazon.com/bubbly and lots of Dairymilk Bubbly chocolates.

Why Voice Social media is cool

Voice social media | Bubbly, Yappie, Hollerhear
To start with, I've always enjoyed the idea of a voice social media platform. It is so difficult to type, isn't it?
I mean, I type very fast. But, even then, why waste your thumbs when your voice can do the job way faster. We think faster than we write or we speak. Certainly, a voice social media platform sounded like a game changer to me years ago.
You're less likely to do a typo on your own voice, aren't you?

Also, because WhatsApp was not much active then. But hey, you cannot compare WhatsApp with public platforms like facebook or twitter.

Update 2017: Listen app - Voice Social Media

Listen app UI looks a lot like Tinder
There's a very cool app called Listen that lets you interact with people across the world with your voice. You have to send your voice for only 30 seconds. You can share your stories to males and females separately but each of 30-second duration only. Every individual can post a reply to the story or voice mail received. If you have selected global instead of automatic in the location, you are likely to find Phillipines, Germany, Egypt, UK, US in addition to Indians.
The UI looks a lot like Tinder. Only that it's voice instead of photographs to add to your prejudice. The biggest difference from Tinder, is that the Listen app in the android platform is not a dating app. It does not have filters for choosing to talk to a single sex only with any age group filters, Listen app is more about creating a network of people who spend their precious time in sending real voices, which means, essentially, that they are not robots. This is a very critical aspect in today's world of Youth Relationships and Digital Interaction.
  • You can either choose to respond to a voice story or pass.
  • You have to record for a minimum of 2 seconds on the Listen app.
  • You can only reply if the other responds.

It is just 90 seconds that you got and it is one raw take! You can add music in the background after you've recorded or there are a few correction stuff like make your voice a chipmunk or basic noise reduction if you are operating in a noisy environment, (which, you are, obviously).

Primarily designed for an impulsive on the go voice update, it has its voice limit. And, again, as there are no advertisements, apparently no business model, not sure how long this would last. Wouldn't be a happy news for anything to be dying like vine.

The brand essentially says: Bubbly™ - It’s time to be heard and to share your voice. A platform where you are a star among stars.

Hashtags and more hashtags! I'm already crying for automation

It has a world wide reach and it operates mostly with hashtags and search. Rebubble sounds familiar?
This seems to be the official facebook page, but I'm not very sure. https://www.facebook.com/bubblyapp

Yappie, which was the closest thing to Bubbly and offered some crazy voice filters that did not make your voice be like your own, at all, did not have background music options. And currently Yappie has changed from the hot pink marriage of Dubbler.

For those of you interested, here's an old article from Techcrunch.com:
Bubbly, the voice-based social media network, has been acquired by India-based Altruist, (Dheeraj Aggarwal is a co-founder), that provides telecom services in Europe, Africa, and Asia. Bubbly, which was known as Bubble Motion before rebranding 2014, raised a total of $39 million, and investors, including Sequoia Capital, Comcast Ventures, Palomar Ventures, JAFCO Asia, NGP, Infocomm Investments, and SingTel Innov8, will be minority shareholders in the combined company.

HollerHear

HollerHear is available on iTunes (and now, also on PLAY STORE), which also claims to be the unique app that allows human voice on social media. It also has a website, like yappie.  hollerhear.com. Haven't personally used it, though.
Create a holler by recording up to 15 seconds.
It has just one five star and no one's really downloaded it yet. It has only 6 ratings on iTunes where it claims to be popular.
All 5 stars, though.

The content there used to be very organized. It still posts a picture and a podcast but there were people who would actually post snippet of there entire podcast as a teaser to excite you to listen to the whole thing on iTunes or something.

Haven't shown any ratings on iTunes.

Shareability. Be where everyone is.

Bubbly.net actually allows you to access all your voice broadcasts, podcasts from the website and you can share it however you want.

You can take my word for Yappie and Bubbly. I totally agree with the added emotion, feeling and authenticity of the spoken word. But then which is better? Usually, it doesn't matter if it is better or not. Wherever there's a community feeling, social media runs there. WhatsApp has been so popular everywhere not because it is doing something great in messaging. It is still the Instant Messaging (IM) we knew from forever. Yahoo Messenger offered video and audio back in the past but not many explored. Here, on WhatsApp, your own contacts from the phone numbers that you own were right there. These were people that you know from real life. (Or claim to). Getting someone's number is more personal than an email id which used to operate almost everything on the internet earlier.

Bubbly app allows timeline sharing for facebook pages.

Dear app, Stop making new words, please!

Oh, God. As we still WhatsApp people and tweet and facebook something, apps do not stop at making new words for their app. It is like a wand and a Hogwarts term that muggles won't understand. It has to be the jargon of the cult.

So, Bubbly makes you bubble something and rebubble, just like twitter lets you tweet and retweet. Yappie makes you make yapps and Holler makes you Holler.

What is your favourite and Why!

Bubbly has certainly given me more followers without even promoting it a tiny bit than my Instagram account. I live in India and net connections are as sad as they can get. Yapps used to crash and Bubbly, which I've used over a longer period of time, crash way too much when there's network lag. It would say, it has saved your stuff and retry whenever there's network again. But it feels like dying when your podcast which is as live as radio and isn't recorded anywhere gets taken away.

Beam had also started and got sold to CNN for 25 million $ over the premise of raw real stuff.

Bubbly has its challenges, no doubt. I guess, I will figure it out once, I know the correct hashtags. As of now, I don't understand why #ilovesing is trending. Is this even a hashtag! #voiceblog is still fine to those who rest between blogging and vlogging. Of course, no one is presentable all the time. But the sexy voice remains, as is, no matter how terrible a pimple you maybe having. Enjoy a bubble from me and follow me, if you like. :)
